Hi... I've got a simple problem looking for a hackish answer. At my worksite (Irving Bank), we have a VAX-750 under VMS dedicated to running an internal mail system (Pony Express/MM32). We have a lot of mostly computer-illiterate users coming in on many types of bizzare little modem terminals. My question is this: How can I cause backspace to be replaced by delete in all user input, short of patching the terminal driver? So many users hit BS instead of DEL, that it's easier to accomodate them than retrain. On our older mail system (MS on a TOPS-20 system) BS worked ok, but now on the vax, people trying to read mail on printing terminals get unreadable overstrikes if the sender used BS. thanks, Peter Trei oc.trei@cu20b.arpa oc.trei@cu20b.columbia.com "Anyone who mistakes my views for my employers probably has other nasty habits." -------
