Hi, we've been having a problem with FINGER lately. It first showed up on our VAX 8700 running VMS 4.6 and has recently shown up on our VAX 785, also running 4.6. The problem is that Finger will bomb, giving a T-bit exception. Generally, Finger heals itself after a while and runs merrily on until the next problem. We thought originally that it was a hardware problem, but now are not so certain. Has anyone else ever seen this error message?? Does anyone have any idea what could cause it?? Does anyone have any bits of information which might help us track down the root of the problem?? (help!) This is a copy of the error as it was received today on the 785.
