[comp.os.vms] Let the War continue with reasonableness, reason within

Everybody should keep flaming, but within reason, guys...

Oh, for the login speed of RSX!!! I miss those days of fast login,
slow idyllic afternoons spent overlaying, writing JCL procs on a PDP
to send to an IBM to send on to a VAX to simulate UNIX pipes to do
work that could speed by with TECO ...

(No kidding, I used to do that paragraph above for a living... :-D )

By The Way, I disagree with those who don't like flames and wars on the
net.
We can all learn from one another's favorite things we can emulate
to form our "perfect" operating system... I have the UNIX grep command
on my VAX, and use it and like it. I have RSX TECO Macros to do stuff
at VAX speed, and I use what I have learned about programming on PDP's
and IBM's to write more efficient code on VAXen..

No OS is better than another, that's like a pickaxe being "better"
than a shovel...

I'd like to see the mind-bending transwarp speed of RT-32 or RSX-32
someday on a VAX 8700... Now THAT would be a power realtime tool...

VMS will always be a faster to DEVELOP on system, but will it be
practical as an OS for something you plug in and run, considering the
prices for support as well as prices for the hardware and software
itself, no matter the vendor of the "ware" you get?

  Same goes for languages too!!!
