I have just installed CMU's TCP/IP V6.2 on our mVAX II running mVMS V4.5. I edited the necessary configuration files and added the necessary identifiers, but there are problems : I am able to TELNET to a UNIX 4.3 site, by IP address or host name, however I reject their attempts to TELNET to us, either as an IP address or host name. They can however use the TCP/FTP facility to put/get files from us, and similarly we get use out TCP/FTP facility to put/get files to them. They can use the finger utility to see who is logged in on our system - I don't much like the look of that, CMU TCP/IP V6.2 informs them if a user has new mail, I'll have to find out how to stop our FINGER server. Another problem is that the nameserver crashes after a few minutes with : Exception handler: signal name 0000000C. Does anyone know what quotas/system parameters are critical to run this software ?, there is no mention of anything of that sort in the limited documentation.
