Hi, We have a VAX 780 that is on the Arpanet via Wollongong software. We also have a shared DEUNA TCP/IP Ethernet link to a Sun workstation named PISMO. (The VAX is DRCVAX.ARPA.) From our VAX, I can send mail to the Sun by using: MAILER!JON@PISMO (the user is named Jon). The Sun can send stuff out tothe great Arpa or Uunet world without having to login to the VAX by prefacing it's outgoing mail address with "drcvax!." The problem comes when a user on a host out there in the world of Arpa or other nets tries to send to the Sun through the VAX. They can send to the VAX all day, but trying to use the VAX as a router to the Sun seems impossible. I have tried many conventions, with this one being the most often recommended: @drcvax.arpa:jon@pismo It gets to the VAX, but dies there or bounces back to the sender. Can somebody help me decide what address (if any) will allow Jon's contacts to mail him directly on the Sun without his having to log into the VAX to get his mail? Dan P.S. If you are gonna talk domains, please explain them first, I've read the docs and am totally confused. ------
