It is actually a network front-end of sorts: you get a PDP11 running DECnet/
RSX, and supporting software that runs on the 370. (There are rumors of
a MicroVAX version of the FE.) It is attached directly to one of the 370's
channels on one side, and to your DECnet on the other. I have no experience
(we didn't buy one) but they have been selling them for several years and
continue to develop the product. It is rather expensive, but probably worth
it if you can use what it gives you.
