A while back someone was asking how to stop a process that went into the RWAST state. It seems that there is no way to do most of the $GETJPI system services on a process in a resource wait state. Most of the finger programs do not work with these processes, although they do tend to show up on a SHOW SYSTEM. Also they will not show up on SHOW USERS if they were interactive before they got stuck and were attempted to be STOP/ID'ed. What I would like to know is how to get into RWAST. Can anyone tell me what a legitimate way is to get into this state? I already know about stuff like asking for some SRP's or other non-paged pool, like is done with LIB$SPAWN, but I want something that is more user controlled so that perhaps another process can control the one process in getting in and out of RWAST. For example, suppose I want a main process to spawn a subprocess to do work. I want the main process to go to RWAST while the subprocess is working and then when done, the subproc can signal the main one that it is done. HIBernate is not good enough for me. I want the RWAST state. Can this be done? -- Jeff Capehart Internet: jdc@beach.cis.ufl.edu University of Florida UUCP: ..!ihnp4!codas!uflorida!beach.cis.ufl.edu!jdc
