I am in the process of installing the TeX utility on a VAX 3600 system that uses an LN03R (Postscript) printer (and Scriptwriter SW from DEC). I am neither a TeX guru nor a Postscript guru. My understanding of TeX is that it produces DVI files which, in my case, would need be translated into Postscript before they can be printed. Presumably such a utility exists. Can anyone supply more information as to how/where it may be procured (free would be nice!)? In the process of RTFMs, Ric Steinberger steinberger@kl.sri.com Thanks to any and all who reply. -------

Nelson Beebe at the University of Utah distributes a package called: A TeX DVI Driver Family It is available by anonymous ftp, but I never did get that to work and ended up sending him a tape. The package includes lots of DVI tranlators, postcript is one of them. I tested it fairly extensively and have had no problems, but we don't have it up for production yet. I would suggest contacting Nelson directly: Nelson H.F. I got Nelson Beebe's DVIALW (DVI to apple laserwriter) program via anonymous ftp to science.utah.edu. I don't remember the exact path to the files, but if you poke around you should be able to find it. DVIALW works with the Kellerman and Smith TeX distribution (that's what we have). I don't know about others - it may depend on the format of the font files. Mike Iglesias University of California, Irvine

The standard TeX distribution contains an executable called DVI2PS, which does what you want. If your distribution doesn't have it, get a distribution from DECUS (I think one of the VAX-SP series) as theirs definitely includes what you want.
