I am trying to improve the our disk fragmentation problems We are running a commercial defragger, which tidies up files nicely, but does not prvent them from being create in fragments to begin with. Since our defragger attempts to concentrate free space at the beginning of the disk (that being where VMS creates files, by default), I would like to move some of the larger and more permanent files to the end of the disk. I can move the INDEXF.SYS to the end of the disk by initializing it /INDEX=END, but I would also like to put page, swap, and dump files at the end of their respective disks. How does one go about positioning a file like this? +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Borden Armstrong Computer Center | | System Manager and Carleton College | | Academic Programmer/Analyst 1 North College Street | | Northfield, MN 55057 | | barmstro@carleton.edu U.
