sdowdy@charon.unm.edu (Stephen Dowdy) (05/01/88)
I have recently needed to dismount drives mounted with /system. I have only
been partially successful.
I have turned quotas off, de-installed images that are on the device, attempted
to STOP/ID processes with open files... Sometimes this clears out all open
files (Show Dev /Files reveals only INDEXF.SYS open), but sometimes i am
left with open files attached to processes that return
nonexistent process
when i try to examine them.
So, my question is: Is there a sure-fire method of Dismounting a drive
while the system is still running? And what to do about the "ghost"
processes holding files?
Thanks,
