We're having a strange problem with logfiles that are created as a result of running the SUBMIT/REMOTE command. If I'm on system A and do a SUBMIT/REMOTE to system B, the logfile that is created in the default directory for my proxy on system B is deleted when the batch job is finished. However, if I'm on system B and do the SUBMIT/REMOTE to system A, the logfile is kept. In both cases the job runs succesfully. The problem must be related to the configuration on system B but I don't know what specifically to look for. It shouldn't matter but system B is a clustered 8650 and system A is a LAVC clustered Microvax. Proxys and priviliges must be OK since the job itself runs fine. I should add that the log file is created on system B and I can look at it while the batch job is running. It contains what I'd expect. I just don't understand why it is deleted. Comments? Check whether there is a sys$print queue on the 8650. If so, you will probably find that your batch job log is being printed there when the job finishes. It is the default behaviour in that sort of setup, and is one of the main reasons why we don't have a sys$print. Ruth Milner Systems Manager University of Toronto Physics
