[comp.os.vms] detecting "locked" files

What I have done so far in order to detect files open for writing
(I think the question aims at that) is
        $ open/append/error=file_open  dummy <filespec>
        $ close dummy
        $file_not_open:
        ...
        $file_open:
I don't think this is a general solution, but for me it worked.

I'd love to have the information from $ SHOW DEVICE/FILES on open files
available in a form other than a listing file. Any ideas?
