Subject: DEC and IBM Connections

Could somebody please help me sort out my confusion about the
possible DEC - IBM connections.
I am a VAX person and do not know much about IBM products yet,
but I would like to know how the VAX can be connected to the IBM,
which products are needed on either side (hardware and software)
and what services are offered.
I know there are many ways to do this and many products involved,
from DEC, IBM and third parties. But I do not fully understand how
these products fit together. Also, new products seem to be coming
along in this area from DEC and IBM which makes the whole evaluation
more difficult.
If anybody has been through this cycle already, I would appreciate
their comments, recommendations and experiences. We would like to
follow some standard in this exercise, (OSI is preferred) but other
solutions will be considered.
