THIS IS A REPOSTING: SORRY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT, BUT IT NEVER MADE IT
BACK TO ME.

Hi Fellow Netlanders:

I am beginning to search for a good GKS package for VMS. Our application is
not special: We simply want FORTRAN-callable routines that will be device
independent. We are currently using DEC VT241s, but will probably expand to
other types of graphics terminals.

I would appreciate any advice you might have, including vendor
names/addresses/phone numbers, as well as product prices and general
impressions.

Thanks in advance,

Danny Brooks

We are using VAXGKS from DEC. It supports almost all DEC's graphics terminals,
plotters, etc. In addition it supports some HP plotters and Tektronix
terminals. If you have other graphics devices you can write your own graphics
handler (as we did) to make GKS run on that device. VAXGKS is a level 2c
implementation, so all GKS features are supported. It is nicely integrated in
the VMS environment. Device types can be defined with logical names or hard-
coded in the program. VAXGKS is a rather new product, it is certainly not bug
free, but it satisfied our needs.
