I am thinking about acquiring two of the model9600's for a voice grade 2 mile leased line from NYNEX. The line would be point to point with no dialing/ringing. My intentions is to do TCP/IP over this asynchronous connection..... Does anyone have any experience with the UDS9600? -- marty schoffstall schoff%rpics.csnet@csnet-relay ARPA schoff@rpics CSNET seismo!rpics!schoff UUCP martin_schoffstall@TROY.NY.USA.NA.EARTH.SOL UNIVERSENET RPI Computer Science Department Troy, NY 12180 (518) 271-2654

We used a pair of UDS9600s to run SLIP over a nailed-up dialup connection until we retired it recently with a 56Kb DDS link. Since the UDS9600s are half duplex synchronous modems, we had to use the companion ECUs (error control units) between our asynch ports and the modems. The link worked well, most of the time, except that the ECUs would have an apparent protocol lockup every day or two. Redialing the link would cure (temporarily) this problem. Phil
