Hello, I'd like to have any information concerning programs and concepts that deal with 'automatic operating' on a VAX 8530 running VMS 4.6 and higher versions. This includes 'idle job killers' as well as programs that keep watching the system for critical situations such as diminishing disk space, do automatically swap accounting files, do automatically trigger BACKUP operations, analize system dumps, watch error counts and so on. I am already aware that there is a program called NANNY by D.Zirin that does a subset of the tasks I'm interested in. The final aim should be to have a program that takes appropriate actions in critical system states and after system boot. We'd also like to forward messages created by that 'automatic operator' to an IBM running MVS. This could either be achieved via DECNET, TCP/IP or IBM2780/3780 RJE. The messages could then be further processed by IBM Netview. I am doing this as my diploma work and any hints would be appreciated.
