Hello all, There has been some discussion here regarding the performance of the LAT terminal servers versus DMZ-32/DMF-32 terminal ports. We have a VAX 8700 here which has no UNIBUS on it, and all interactive sessions are made either through DECnet, TCP/IP, or the LAT terminal servers. Some people here are contending that the LAT terminal ports cannot possibly be as efficient as DMF ports, and that we should therefore purchase a BI-to-UNIBUS adapter, DMZ-32 boards, and ditch the DECServers. I was under the impression that the LAT ports were actually really good. I have also heard rumors that the BI-to-UNIBUS adapter has pretty poor performance. We would like to hear from any sites which have had experience with both types of terminal connections. How would you rate the two types of ports? How many interactive connections do you support? (We are planning to have 96.) Etc., etc., etc. Please respond directly. If enough interest is shown, I will post a summary to INFO-VAX.
