[comp.os.vms] DISCONNECT/CONTINUE with LTM

malcolm@csdgwy.csd.unsw.oz (Malcolm Wade) (06/20/88)

We are running LAN Traffic Monitor here on a uVAX II. I would like to use
the Detach User Interface option during the day instead of spawning of a
sub-process (which I do at the moment). The manual indicates that this option
will not work with DECnet virtual terminals (RTAnn:) or a directly connected
terminal. It says that this option works ok with LAT virtual terminals
(VTAnn:).

We don't use LAT terminals... I can connect the VTAnn: device through sysgen
but is it possible to connect my terminal session to it ? What other terminal
sessions allow a user to issue a disconnect/continue command ?

thanks for any responses,

When you connect the VTAnnn: device, all terminal sessions will be connected
through it, with the exception of OPA0: I think. Thus, you will have
disconnect/connect on practically all of your terminals.
