Hi all. I did a bunch of work on DUMPER-32 at our site to get it to work with version 5 and 6 labeled TOPS-20 DUMPER tapes. The program was written at Stevens Institute of Technology, and we got it off thr DECUS conversion tools tape. I need to know who to contact to send them the new and improved version for distribution. Would it be someone at Stevens? Or someone at DECUS?? Help! - Jim Harvey IJAH400@INDYVAX.BITNET PS: I've sent about three things out on INFO-VAX in the last week, and seen NONE of them come back. What's going on?

I used to work at STEVENS and was there when DUMPER-32 was written. You should probably send your changes to: David L. Stevens Senior Systems Programmer Stevens Institute of Technology Computer Center Castle Point Hoboken, NJ 07030 or better yet... There seems to be some confusion on the subject of the utility called both DUMPER-32 and SI_DUMPER; this is the program for VMS that reads TOPS10 and TOPS20 system save tapes (BACKUP and DUMPER). Although Stevens Institute in Hoboken wrote the utility for Digital, there is no ongoing support or maintenance agreement with Stevens; they were very good about fixing bugs during the first year or so that SI_DUMPER was in the world, and I thank then for doing so. Until now, the correct repository for sending bug fixes was in fact myself, here at DEC in Marlboro. However the marketing side of the 10/20 business goes away in 15 calendar days, although the tools function is being transitioned to another group in Digital. I have not finalized the plans for this however, and am therefore hesitant to publically give their name and address at this time. If you have bug fixes at the moment, then it is best to send them to me, and I will take care of getting them moved to the new group. I will also post a note here when the plans are firm for the transition of the entire tools clearinghouse. (sorry this is so late, I just got back from vacation)... I have sent a BACKUP saveset in VMSDUMP format containing an EXE-only DUMPER-32 installation kit to all on the net who expressed an interest in getting the updated version. The complete thing with all sources is really too large to be sending over BITNET, especially since I'm on the wrong end of the burned-out phone center in Chicago. The saveset with just the EXE, CLD, and some documentation is about 172 Kbytes, and the BITNET policy is to keep file transfers under 300 Kbytes the last I heard. DUMPER-32 is now maintained by the Digital Tools Clearinghouse. Any updates/bug fixes etc. should be sent there so that they can be incorporated into the "official" version. The complete source distribution for DUMPER-32 as modified at IUPUI has been sent to the Clearinghouse for incorporation in the next version on the Tools Tapes. Direct inquiries to: Tools Clearinghouse Attn: Mr. Reed Powell Mailstop: MR02-2/2C Digital Equipment Corporation One Iron Way Marlboro, Mass. 01752 The source files are rather large to be sending them to places all over BITNET, but, since some of you want the sources "real soon now", I found a place to get the complete distribution available right away. Thanks to the courtesy of Mr. Glenn Everhart and the VAX Systems SIG, the IUPUI version will be available on the Spring 1988 VAX SIG Tapes. Thanks again to Betsy Ramsey of the American Mathematical Society, Dave Stevens at S.I.T., Steve Roseman at Lehigh University, and all who provided helpful information on what to do with the updates.... - Jim =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- James A.
