[comp.os.vms] uncompress for VMS

IMHW400@INDYVAX.BITNET (07/05/88)

Several versions of the LZ compress/decompress software are available on
various DECUS tapes. The one I have used was included with VAXNET on one
of the regular library tapes, and I have heard that there is another one
on at least one of the VAX SIG tapes.

Any of the last few VAX SIG tapes have included a pair of tools called
LZCMP and LZDCM for compression and decompression of files (since some
very large and eminently compressible files appear on the VAX SIG tapes).
The algorithms are compatible with the Un*x compress and uncompress
utilities (as I remember).
