If it's a real problem for you, and >you can't wait for V5, you should contact your DEC support people and find >out if a patch is available for the tape driver. > -- Jerry I got a patch from Colorado Support Center for the problem with BACKUP (SYSTEM-F-BADPARAM or INVALID LABEL or something like that) for a TU81+. It is a local (CSC) patch with a warning that it has not been tested under all circumstances. The patch is to BACKUP.EXE, and STABACKUP.EXE (i checked out KITINSTAL.COM), which is not going to help in your situation. But for those of you who have complained about the problem with backup and have CSC support, there is a solution (though you take your chances). So far it has held up fine. I'm not sure how patching BACKUP.EXE bypasses a bug in the tape driver. On the accompanying letter, there is a reference to BACKUP not working on TK50 drives as well. I guess anyone who uses TK50s probably has PHY_IO anyway. --stephen dowdy -- $!####################################################################### $! stephen dowdy (UNM CIRT) Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87131 (505) 277-8044 $!
