Hi, I've the following problem on our vax. We use the diskquota utility to restrict the use of disk space for different departments on our RA81 disk (VAX 780). When we do a dir/by_owner/size/total for a group the quota found is always smaller than the one indicated by sh quota. We also found the following strange thing : when the users of a certain group do a dir/size/by_owner the also find files in directories that are of a different group. When I do the same command dir/size/by_owner=[ ] as system user I don't get those files. We deleted one of these strange behaving files and found that the quota of both groups (the one whose directory it is and the one that shouldn't own the file) mounts. A few months ago we had a small disk crash. One of the heads of the disk wrote beside its track and created a lot of parity errors in about 200 files. We made an image backup of the file (it ignored all the bad files and put them on the last tape of the backup), DEC replaced our disk and we placed the backup back on the new disk (without the bad files). Is it possible the crash is responsible for this strange behaviour and can it be solved ? Maybe with the rebuild option of diskquota ? Thanks Please respond to me personally because we have a general username for info-vax mail.
