ERIC@UOFT02.BITNET (Eric) (08/05/88)
New versions of REPLY and MESSAGE are available from KERMSRV@UOFT02. To get a copy on bitnet, send a command of following form: Send kermserv@uoft02 vmsdump reply.* Send kermserv@uoft02 vmsdump message.* If you are not on bitnet but want a copy, send me a mail message and I will *try* to send it out to you... For those who don't know about REPLY and MESSAGE, here is some brief information on them: REPLY will log any messages you receive to a file. In addition, if the message is a user message, a reply is sent back (either the default one or a user specified reply message can be sent). Also, when a file is received a 'thank you' message saying the file was received is sent. It is intended to run on BITNET nodes with JNET, but may work elsewhere as well (your guess is as good as mine). MESSAGE is a program that runs as a subprocess and logs all messages to a file. Useful(?) if you need a log of messages for some reason, for example, if you miss a message due to the screen clearing, you need to show that someone is sending you death threats, etc. Eric Jon ROSTETTER Eric@UOFT02.bitnet
