Many years ago, on the Univac that I worked on, there was a capability to have one userid, but more than one "account". The advantage to this was that if we had a student taking more than one class requiring computer usage, there would be one userid. The student would give one of her N account numbers, which would indicate which account got billed for which session of work. There used to be a program called BECOME, that one could run on the VAX/VMS that would allow you to "Become" someone else if you had the privilege, ie. use their UIC, account, owner files etc. Is there something that currently does this kind of thing? One that would work without the students themselves having a special privileges? If such a program or method exists, is it still available? Will it break on level 5? In other words, is there a better method that having a student with 4 separate userids when you have higher-ups who want to keep track of which depts use which resources? Thanks to anyone who tries to help, Angie Hogencamp User Services Williams College bitnet address : hogencamp@williams
