We have some users who have recently purchased a VAXstation-3500 for use in a laboratory/data acquisition application. Now they would like to add a 1600/6250 bpi tape drive to the beast for archiving of data and exchange with other laboratories. Does anyone have any information/comments/pointers on Q-bus tape drives, including price, performance, reliability, and mounting requirements? Thanks, Greg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gregory H. We set up a similar system with a VAXstation II GPX and used CDC's Keystone Streaming tape drive. I believe Fujitsu also makes a drive which can be mated to the Q-bus controllers. For a controller we used a Dialog DQ152 and Emulex also makes a TS-11 compatible controller. Both tape drives are rack mountable in a standard 19 inch frame. Watch out for the CDC drive though, it can also be mounted horizontally in a low cabinet and ours was originally shipped with the wrong mounting hardware. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Stevens - NASA Ames Research Center Moffet Field CA Mail Stop 233-10 (415)694-4887 pstevens@ames-pioneer.arpa
