efbatey%tervax.DECnet@NSWSES.ARPA ("TERVAX::EFBATEY") (08/08/88)
After the sweet taste of really good mail user interfaces,
it is really hard for me to use VMS-Mail. For some time
I have been fortunate to use the Software Tools MSG, mail
user interface. Much closer to /usr/ucb/mail than VMS-Mail
and much faster and more convenient. Much better at
scooting thru info-vax mail as passed to me over DECNET
from our ARPA to WIN/TCP host. Sunday night turns into
Monday morning before I get all the headers fixed so I
can read the 100 plus i-v mail items ( resurrect from
and subject from 'mailer @ vaxx' and '[TCP/IP Mail From
... ]actual subject'.
Then Friday on my UUCP connected Sun's, I got Dan Heller's
(from Island Graphics) Mail User's Shell (MUSH v6.3).
Jaguar drivers, eat your hearts out. This is primo
interfacing from Mail Deliverer ( assumes ascii seq files
like RFC822, like Software Tools MSG ) and gives the dumbest
terminal with limited cursor control a full screen mail
interfacing and internal command shell. SLICK.
Probably someone out there HAS or SHOULD port this SysV/BSD
publicly available mail user interface to VMS? Volunteers?
