In our office we have a MicroVAX (MicroVMS 4.7, DECnet, and VAX/VMS Services for MS-DOS) connected by ethernet to a dozen or so PCs that are also running a DECnet product. A PC user can establish a file server connection which allows a user to create (or should I say, 'map to') a directory on the VAX and have it appear as just another PC disk device. Then the PC commands can be used to manipulate files on that device just like any other. However, any time a command is given that writes data to a file on the VAX based disk, the link aborts and the following line is found in the SYS$SPECIFIC:[PCSA]PCFS_SERVER.LOG file: 18-Nov-88 18:00:36 (netio) Unit 76 (LIAKA): SMB claims to be bigger (1019 \ bytes) than containing message (606 bytes) 18-Nov-88 18:00:36 (netio) Unit 76 (LIAKA): virtual circuit aborted by server The VAX/VMS Services for MS-DOS book gives a brief explanation about the size of the message block being wrong and that the VAXmate Technical Reference book should be consulted to make sure some parameters are set correctly, and then to resend the message again. Well, we don't have VAXmates and we don't have the reference book but we do have the problem. Any suggestions or answers? We are running Comunity-DOS on our PCs. Files copy fine from the VAX to the PC but not the other direction. Also, I wrote a copy program in C and can use it to copy files to the VAX. But the DOS version of COPY, or BACKUP do not work. Also, applications such as WordPerfect do not work, and some other public domain editors. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas, Mike O'Donnell
