When I use GNU emacs under VMS to do an incremental search, I find that if I forget to terminate the search properly, emacs enters a brain- damaged state where the arrow keys no longer work. The work-around is to Ctrl-z out of emacs, then start it up again. Does anyone know a real fix for this problem, which I assume is VMS-specific? In case there is no fix, could somebody please tell me how VMS TPU can be made to look like UNIX vi, as I have heard it can?
