[comp.os.vms] MC68010 Real Numbers on a VAX 11/750

kilroy@mimsy.UUCP (Darren F. Provine) (04/12/89)

I have a machine which runs Unix SV on an MC68010, and this machine
has some files with real numbers in them.

This is attached (via a DR-11W) to a VAX running VMS.

The problem is that a VAX uses a different format than a MC68010 to
represent real numbers, and I can't come up with a good way to convert
them.

Does anyone know of a good algorithm (or a bad one) to do this? It
doesn't matter from which end (ie, it can run on the VAX after the
numbers are transferred or on the Unix box beforehand), but if you
send code for the VAX it has to be FORTRAN (grumble grumble grumble).

E-mail replies if possible and I'll post a summary.
