Sometime last week (the article here has already expired), 'darin@laic' posted the following comment vis-a-vis VT100 terminal-emulation on the Amiga; I've tried to reply via E-mail but the Net doesn't seem to recognize node 'laic' on the UUCP network, so I'm forced to reply here. Oh well, at least the message MAY be of potential interest to SOME other folks. Please don't flame me if this message has already been bantered about for six weeks already, as I haven't seen it here... > [...] Both TPU and EDT send escape > sequences that are vt100 specific, but that aren't understood by any > ANSI terminal or emulator that I have used (Sun and Amiga). It may be that DEC never > had any ulterior motive, but without a VTxx or VTxx COMPATIBLE terminal, > using VMS screen oriented tools is not easy. I've noticed some variations in this area myself, but found that on my Amiga the program "VT100" (I currently use v2.8, although v2.9 is out) works perfectly with VMS, EDT, et al. In fact, it works BETTER with EDT than some actual VT300's etc. that I've used! If you've already tried VT100 and disliked it, could your problem possibly have anything to do with using the wrong number of data bits (8 vs. 7) or wrong parity (even, odd, none, mark, space) to talk to that VMS system? I can con- ceive of that being a problem... -- UUCP: <backbones>!{iuvax,pur-ee,uunet}!bsu-cs!cfchiesa cfchiesa@bsu-cs.UUCP
