We have 2 uVAX II's. VAX2 is our boot node and VAX1 is a satellite node on our LAVC. VAX2 has more Q-bus slots in it's cabinet, and we want to make VAX1 our boot node, and devote VAX2 to stuff that will have it rebooting too often to be our cluster boot node and disk server. If we take our boot disk (an RD54) out of boot node VAX2 and connect it to VAX1 as dua0:, will this essentially swap the identities of VAX2 and VAX1? If not, then how might we accomplish this? We're actually moving uVAX VAX1 from a BA23 cabinet to a H9642 cabinet, and giving it a new RQDX3 (it has a 2 now), and a DEC-compatible M9405 Q-bus extender card, and upgrading to VMS 5.2 as well. I'm sure that we need to do all this in stages, but I don't know how to divide the work up. I'm not a hardware person! Please, does anyone have any suggestions? Our current cluster system disk is an RD54, and I don't think it's dual-ported. I believe that only our Ethernet (running DECnet) connects the nodes and allows the disks to appear everywhere. (that, and MSCP). I'll be quite grateful for any help! Thanks!
