Does anyone know how to identify and mark bad blocks on these generic SCSI drives? I have a 160Mb Wren and a 780Mb Hitatchi, both of which contain 0 size for Badblk.sys file. They are both installed on our VAXStation 3100 running VMS 5.2. Ive tried >>>TEST 75 from the opcom prompt which ran for several hours but did not create any bad block data. I've also tried $ANALYZE/MEDIA which reported 123 bad blocks on the 780Mb drive, but would not output the data to a file. Checking with DEC, they basically said that analyze/media only works with their drives, and to ask the vendor. The vendor doesn't seem to understand why there is a problem, and keeps sending me more and more drives to try (I have 6 now!) Thanx for any help. PS: The drives continuously error to syserr.log saying BAD SENSE DATA. Ed Mills Melbourne, FL
