Hi, I use gnu emacs on a unix system and on VMS. Emacs is great on unix; I can read mail and read the news. However on VMS (VAX 8650 running VMS 5.1) I can do neither. I suspect that GNUS won't work on VMS because it is incapable of running a subprocess. But what about rmail? It should simply read in new mail from the apropriate mailbox and convert it to the apropriate format and save it in an RMAIL file. But how do I carry out the first step of this program. The VMS mailer puts new mail in my home directory in a MAIL.MAI file which is compressed. Is there a way of telling the mailer not to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
