I frequently run programs that create X windows on my VAXstation from other machines. The most common application of this is my running a Xterm (or dxterm) window on a Unix box with the window popping up on my VAXstation. The following is a typical example of that: $rshell/username="dh" - fenris - "dxterm -ls -d ''f$edit(f$getsyi(""scsnode""),""trim"")':0.0 -size 80x45" This works fine if the COM file is run from a session which is actually running on the workstation. However, I usually have at least one VMS DECterm connected over DECnet from which the above obviously would not work. Is there anyway of getting the equivalent of the Unix shell variable DISPLAY? DECW$DISPLAY doesn't give a very useful value in this context. -dh --- Don Hosek TeX, LaTeX, and Metafont Consulting and dhosek@ymir.claremont.edu production work.
