I'm looking for technical opinions on this (but I suppose I'll have to take whatever kind of opinions I get :-). We have the following configuration: Dual System 3400 (MV3400's in dual host config) running VMS 4 RF71s on the DSSI 3 RA90s dual ported on QBUS 1 TU81+ 1 Emulex 8mm tape drive MV3100 running Ultrix (3.x, currently) and DECnet/Ultrix 1 internal RZ23 2 external RZ56 What I want to know is this: Can I use VMS/Ultrix connection to access all files (permissions permitting) on the VMS system from the Ultrix system? What I'm thinking about doing is putting the 8mm drive (plus another one or two) on the Ultrix machine and backing up both systems from the MV3100. Is this sort of thing even possible? Alternatively, would it be possible to access the VMS tape drives from Ultrix through this setup?
