[comp.os.vms] DECUS TeX tape available for Anonymous FTP

chris@wuarchive.wustl.edu (Chris Myers) (09/18/90)

The Digital Equipment Computer Users' Society and Washington University
in Saint Louis are proud to announce the availability of the recently
released DECUS TeX tape for access over the Internet. A great deal of
work has been put into making this collection, and both DECUS and
Washington University would like to thank the many people who spent the
thousands of hours necessary to make it possible.

The eight parts which compose the DECUS TeX tape are available for
anonymous FTP from wuarchive.wustl.edu [128.252.135.4]. All of the
various parts of this tape are stored in the directory "/decus/tex".
Please retrieve the file "COPYING" first since it contains important
information you will need to copy the BACKUP savesets. You should
also first retrieve the 000_instruct BACKUP saveset since it contains
important information about the contents of the various savesets and
how to install the TeX programs.

Washington University regrets that under no circumstances can it
provide copies of the DECUS Symposia or TeX Tapes on any form of media,
nor can it honor requests for individual files from the Symposia or TeX
tapes.

Questions about the Washington University archives (only) should be
e-mailed to archives@wugate.wustl.edu.

The approximate size of each part of the TeX tape is shown below, in
kilobytes (1 kilobyte is 2 disk blocks):

	74	/decus/tex/000_instruct
	27440	/decus/tex/tex
	1730	/decus/tex/tex__amiga
	13994	/decus/tex/tex__macintosh
	16220	/decus/tex/tex__msdos
	7754	/decus/tex/tex__unix
	26242	/decus/tex/tex_fonts
	5718	/decus/tex/tex_periodicals (*)
	60116	/decus/tex/tex_source

(*) NOTE: The Tex_periodicals saveset is not on the normal DECUS TeX
distribution since it would overflow a normal 2400' 6250-bpi tape. It
contains ZOO archives of TeXHax and TeXMag and is being made available
for anonymous FTP for your convenience.

You can get an application for membership in the DECUS U.S. Chapter by
