[comp.os.vms] Emulex P4000 and Decnet

wld@asacsg.mh.nl (Hans Wildeboer) (09/26/90)

Hi there,

Can someone out there help us with the following problem?

The following problem arises with our network which consists of:
	- a Digital MVAX3800 running under VMS5.x,
	- a terminal server P4000 from Emulex,
	- connected with thick ethernet.

All communication between terminals connected to the terminal server and
the CPU are without any problem. Except when hand terminals are being used.
These hand terminals are connected to a cradle, this cradle again is
connected via one serial line on the terminal server.
The communication between the cradle and the server is bothered by timing
problems. The cradle does not make use of software or hardware handshaking,
but uses ACK's and NACK's instead.
If the cradle is connected directly to a serial port on the CPU no problems
occur.

Our question is why this problem occurs onlu via the terminal server.
This is important to us because the cradle has to be used far away from the
CPU.

Thanks in advance,

ASAC Nederland b.v.
