A few days ago I posted the following: >We have just installed the release version of LANworks for the Macintosh (v1.0) >and are having a problem seeing the VAXshare server from a Mac SE connected >to a Kinetics Fastpath 4. >Symptoms: >Kbox is running Kstar 8.0 and has Phase 2 and DECnet support turned on. >Mac is an SE running system 6.0.4. >DECnet services from our VAX 6420 running LANworks are visible. ie netcopy >works as does our field test version of the All-in-1 Mail software. >but .... I *can't* see the VAXshare server. I can see all the zones, (We have >one other Fastpath running Kstar 8.0 with Ethertalk 1 <-> 2 routing turned on) >including all of the Ethertalk phase 1 zones. >What is stranger is that a Mac IIx directly connected to our ethernet and >running Phase 2 *can* see the server. >Has anyone out there using LANworks seen this behaviour ??? As a followup a couple of other pointers have come to light. Every mac that I've tested (and it includes SE, II, IIx & IIfx) cannot see *any* service registered by DEC LANworks from the localtalk side of a FastPath even though it has Phase 2 routing turned on. This includes the VAXshare server mentioned before, but also includes printer queues set up on the VAX using LANworks and the new Appletalk-DECnet bridge (DECnet "tunnelling"). All are visible as stated before from a direct ethernet connected mac. No options for Kstar are turned on. What am I missing ??? ian -- Ian Hoyle /\/\ Image Processing & Data Analysis Group / / /\ BHP Melbourne Research Laboratories / / / \ 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170 / / / /\ \ AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / \ / / / Phone : +61-3-560-7066 \/\/\/ FAX : +61-3-561-6709 E-mail : ianh@bhpmrl.oz.au
