DEC has been making a big noise these days about how it's seen the
light and now is going to promote "open" systems. There are three issues
that will help us see how sincere DEC is about this. These are:
1. MTI's new QBUS to CI adapter
2. SF2's new RAID system that attaches directly to the star coupler
without using an HSC.
3. Emulex's new HSC channel cards
Assuming that none of these products uses any illegally gained information
or code (and there's no evidence that any do, that I know of) we'll
be able to judge DEC's position on "openness" by their reaction to
these products.
