[comp.os.vms] Protecting applications on LANworks/PathWorks for Mac...

rainwatr@ucunix.san.uc.edu (Don Rainwater) (12/21/90)

We have LANworks for the Macintosh running on our VAX, and we
will be setting this up as the file server for our Mac labs shortly.
Open labs being what they are, we want to provide as much protection for
the applications on the server as possible.

The idea is to allow all users to execute the applications on
the server, but to prevent anyone from copying or deleting them. I've
been able to solve the 'no delete' problem, but the user is still able
to copy. You apparently can't set the file to be W:E on VMS, since you
seem to need read access to execute the application.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? More importantly, has
anyone SOLVED this problem? Thanks for any information.
