This is being posted to a couple of VMS groups and the AppleTalk group. I've just learned of the DEC InfoServer 100 which is a box that sits on an Ethernet and acts as a server for CD-ROM & normal disk. Specs: 4MB memory (3 MB cache), RZ23 (SCSI) drive [104MB], 1 or 2 x RRD40 CD-ROM drives plus up to six more RRD40-FA external CD-ROM drives (also SCSI) for a total of eight CD-ROM driver max. Thick & Thin Ethernet. Client support in VMS 5.4 and PCSA for MS-DOS. RRD40s use "Philips/Sony CDROM standard Uni-File data format". Avg access 500ms, transfer rate 150kB/s. Questions: 1. Can we use non DEC CD-ROM drives in place of the RRD40-FA? 2. Can the InfoServer read/mount/serve Mac/High Sierra/ISO 9660 disks? 3. Can I make volumes available via PathWORKS (formerly LanWORKS), i.e. use MSA$MANAGER to mount the disk and make it available as an AppleShare volume? 4. Can I get at the disks directly from my Mac. E.g. using DECNET copy. 5. If the answer to any of the above is "not yet", when? Please E-mail, I'll summarise and post if there is sufficient interest. -- Michael Newbery<newbery@rata.vuw.ac.nz> Dear Lucrezia, thank you for the chocolates, they are delic...
