As far as I know, this is still the only NetNews program (server and client) for VMS. It provides the basic NEWS interface with support for news feeds via batch (from UUCP or MAIL), NNTP over CMU-TEK, Multinet, Wollongong, UCX, and EXOS TCP/IP, as well as DECnet and arbitrary serial lines. As provided, the distribution comes with executables built for systems running TGV's Multinet. Once installed, your system, too, can be one of over 10,000 systems participating in Usenet. NEWS provides a very nice full-screen (SMG) interface for local users and many clients exist for remote access through the NNTP server. The documentation, if you have a Postscript printer, is very well done. If you don't have a Postscript printer, RTF files are provided which can be converted into many popular word processing packages such as Microsoft Word. Many of the other files in this submission discuss other aspects of running ANU NEWS including performance, bug fixes, and helpful hints for installing and running NEWS easily.
