[comp.os.vms] VMS TCP/IP Alternatives

blamer@frith.egr.msu.edu (Tracey L Blamer) (05/08/91)

I am the administrator of a VAX 6310 used mainly for medical records in a
veterinary hospital. I appologize if I am posting this inappropriately.

Currently, we are funning FUSION TCP software, but with the upgrade
to VMS 5.4 and our support contract with IDX (the company from which
we got both the VAX and FUSION) FUSION has been nothing but problems.
So, I am look at alternatives to FUSION.

I know of some other VMS TCP software (Carnige Mellon, Multinet, Wolongong,
TCPware) and I have requested information from the companies, but I really
want to know what other VMS administrators recommend. What do you like/dislike
about the software you are running. Pros/Cons type of stuff. I'd also like
to know where you got your TCP software from (Carnige Mellon is free, I
understand, but how do I get it; what is the phone number of Multinet; etc.).
Feel free to include comments on FUSION.

Please e-mail responses to me, rather than posting. If there is enough
interest, I will post the highlights of these mailings.
Thanks in advance for your time.
