Here's the situation: We have 2 VAXstation 2000's that we recently bought 3rd party memory for to max them out at 14 Mb ,we are having a problem getting one of the stations to recognize all 12Mb on the board. TAC1 = VAXstation 2000, Satellite in LAVC. Has a local RD54. Running VMS 5.3-1. Originally had 6 Mb ( 4Mb + 2 Mb resident ). Swapped out the 4Mb DEC board and installed a 3rd party 12Mb board. Booted the system up, did show memory and there is was 14mb. TAC2 = VAXstation 2000, Standalone system with RD54 and TK50 in an expansion box. Running VMS 5.4-1. Same memory config as TAC1. Swapped out the 4MB board, rebooted the system. When I do a show memory, only 4Mb show up. Had our hardware FE do the installation and he was at a loss as to what is going on. He ran diagnostics, negative. If anyone has run into this before, or has any ideas/hints/suggestions/words_of_wisdom reagarding this problem i would appreciate any and all. --- ================================================================== | Allen C. You have older PROMS on the mother board. I forget what version you need, but if you call Atlanta they will be happy to tell you. I had this same problem when I first got my expansion board for my VS2000. Atlanta was even able to tell me the part number so that my FSE could get it and install it. Of course putting the VS2000 back into the box was a little troublesome for him - he has broken the halt switch on three motherboards and still hasn't gotten me a working one, but that's another story. ****************************************************************************** Dan McDonald * UUCP ...utafll!txsil!dalsil!mcdonald Summer Institute of Linguistics * Internet mcdonald@dallas.sil.org Dallas Computer Services * -OR- danmc@txsil.lonestar.org 7500 W Camp Wisdom Rd * SILnet DAN.MCDONALD@A1@DALLAS Dallas, TX 75236 * POTSnet (214)709-3389 USA * FAXnet (214)709-3387 ******************************************************************************
