As a long time unix-pc'er but new net user, I've heard rumor that someone has completely sussed out the iv file details so that pretty much any ST-506 disk drive can be formatted for the pc. Is this true? We've got some drives at work that I might be able to get at cost -- 140MBytes, with 1012 (yes, 1012) cylinders. The biggest problem is that it's a full height drive, so it's either got to be external (cables we got) or I need a new header unit for my 7300 (all I need to do is replace the top cover, right?). One concern is the power usage. Does anyone know how much you can put on the main power supply? Should I look at external power? Another concern is the transfer rate. Anybody know how much the old 7300 controller can take? -- >>> Steve Simmons, Inland Sea Software, Ltd. ihnp4!itivax!lokkur!scs <<< >>> 9353 Hidden Lake, Dexter, MI. 48130 313-426-8981 <<< >>> "It's my computer and I'll snub who I want to." <<<
