[unix-pc.general] cursor blink and keyboard ergonomics

A couple of questions:

Has anyone discovered a way to shut off the cursor blink in a 3b1?
This has got to be running on a timing loop somewhere, given its
arhythmic nature. Perhaps there is a counter that can be patched?
(perhaps to 6 months on... 6 months off... 8*)

Also, is the placement of control keys on either side of the space bar
becoming some sort of a new standard? I have a copy of a keymap
utility, but it can't remap the control key to a non control key (such
as the copy key, which is in a somewhat more conventional position for a
control key).

There may not be any way to do this in software. It might be possible
to cut the traces to the copy key and wire it to one of the control
keys, but without a schematic, and given that one side of the
keyboard's pc card is not visible, I can't tell if this is safe.

Any suggestions (even "get used to it!") would be appreciated.
