I'm getting really tired of the Smart System. I just spent about an hour trying to convince it how to print a document the way I wanted it to. The problem? I wanted goofy print media layout, with things in the wrong places, no hyphenation, big gaps here and there, etc. It took me less time than this to teach my C64 using WordPro 3+ 64: about 15 minutes. So. What I'd like is a wordprocessor with: 1. Full control of and near WYSIWYG text formatting. 2. A spell checker that is really *customizable*. As opposed to Smart, which dumps core on me every time I try to add stuff to a custom dictionary. 3. 'Control mode' vs. 'Insert mode' like vi has. I really like having the letter 'D' delete the rest of the line and so on. I really *dislike* this nonsense of going through three menu picks to delete a line, and still having to deal with command/insert mode. 4. I'd like it to be cheap or pd. My current experience with editors under unix is ed, vi, and Smart. So if I need to get microEmacs or somesuch, maybe I'll give that I try. Free is best. Thanx in advance.
