[unix-pc.general] /usr/adm/unix.log errors, what's these?

lenny@icus.UUCP (Lenny Tropiano) (03/13/88)

What are these errors, and what should I do?

Can I do something about that bad block? Or isn't it bad?

This refers to badd mather(mother). The solution to this problem is to stand up
in the middle of the room point your finger at your box
and say "yea, your mather". That should take care of the problem.
If that doesn't work you probably have a bad mother board.

This usually means you have a bad spot on you hard disk that is not entered
into the bad spot table. AT&T told me to reinitialize my hard disk. I did.
And the problem went away.

I thought it stood for BAD DMA for Direct Memory Access. I was wondering
why this happened?

Couldn't I add the blocks using the diagnostic disk "s4test" and add
blocks to the bad block table? If so how would I do that? Is the blk #
the physical sector, etc??
