What does Spurious interrupt - level 2 in the unix.log file mean? I've been getting lots of these. Bob Wilber Work: UUCP: {allegra, mtune, ihnp4}!gauss!wilber ARPA: wilber@research.att.com Home: UUCP: {allegra, mtune, ihnp4}!gauss!heaven!wilber ARPA: heaven!wilber%gauss@att.arpa

I believe that both the winchester and the parallel printer port can generate this message. Typically though, a couple of these messages get logged each time you turn on/off the printer connected to the parallel port. To see if this is the case, empty out the /usr/adm/unix.log file and then toggle your printer on/off. Recheck the file and see if these messages haven't been recorded. I have been receiving from 4 to 20 of these messages a day for over 2 years without any adverse affects. -- Jeffery Small (203) 776-2000 UUCP: uunet!---\ C. Typically though, a couple of these messages get If you find that it is your printer causing the problem you should be able to get rid of it by making sure you do a "disable" *before* you power it down and an "enable" *after* you power it up. Power cycling my printer without doing this used to crash my 3b1 every once in a while. It never happens any more and I never get messages like you described in my log file. -- John "C" Sucilla {ihnp4}!tarkus!jcs Don't let reality stop you....
