[unix-pc.general] Flow control stopped

kevin@kosman.UUCP (Kevin O'Gorman) (09/08/88)

I had a power-supply failure, had it fixed, and restored my system from
backups. Now I'm having trouble with flow control on tty000.

I have the same /etc/daemons stuff as a site where this works. The sums
on /etc/hfc_ctl and /etc/uugetty are the same. I don't know what else
to check.

Flow control is clearly working from a hardware point of view; I can call
out and do humongous transfers in both directions and never drop a bit.
The problem is with incoming calls on my Telebit, and it shows up right
away, before we've gotten to "login:". I get about 40 characters okay,
and the rest are trashed.

Anybody with any ideas about what got lost in the backup and restore?

Oh. There's now more information. This seems to be a problem only when
a 3b1 on-board modem calls my Telebit. The connection gets started okay,
but as I said, the flow control gets things garbled. When I call in with
my other Telebit, set to 1200 baud, everything works fine, if slowly.

So, why did this work before (my unix-pc feed came in that way), or why
does it fail now. Does anyone know what it takes to get a 3b1 and a
Telebit to talk modem?
